INSTRUCTIONS FOR PUBLIC HEARING
Please be advised that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider increasing licensed solid waste collection hauler fees in the unincorporated area of Guilford County (Case #2022-402).
The following solid waste collection fee increases are being requested for 1x/wk garbage and 2x/month recyclables service at the curb:
- Republic Services from $21.50 to $26.56 with proposed CPI-U adjustment - backdoor service currently set at an additional $3/month;
- GFL Environmentalfrom $21.50 to $26.05 with proposed CPI-U adjustment or $27.35 without proposed CPI-U adjustment - backdoor service currently set at an additional $3/month; and
- Randolph County Garbage Service from $18.50 to $21.50 (includes $2/month container fee) - backdoor service currently set at an additional $7/month.
Although not required, the Board of Commissioners will hold this public hearing to solicit public input as part of its consideration of increasing solid waste collection hauler fees (as requested above).
The public hearing has been scheduled for August 4, 2022. The public hearing begins at 5:30 PM and will be held in the Board of Commissioners Meeting Chambers located on the 2nd Floor of the Old County Courthouse, 301 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27401.
Proponents shall be heard first and shall be provided a total of twenty (20) minutes notwithstanding the number of persons desiring to be heard. Opponents shall be heard after the proponents and shall be provided a total of twenty (20) minutes notwithstanding the number of persons desiring to be heard. Each side will be allowed three (3) minutes in rebuttal.
Given the number of interested parties and the time limits established for public hearings, it is strongly encouraged tocoordinate with other proponents/opponents to ensure each side has an opportunity to make their case to the Board of Commissioners. In making your case to the Board of Commissioners, you may use maps, photographs, or diagrams. Any materials, including petitions, that are presented to the Guilford County Commissioners must remain with the case file, and will not be returned.
Petitions with signatures may be presented to the Guilford County Commissioners. Any petition should be presented in duplicate and clearly state the case number and the complete address of each person signing the petition.

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners will hold the public hearing to receive input at its August 4, 2022 regularly scheduled meeting, located at 301 W. Market Street, NC 27401 at 5:30PM.
